The Dangerous Trap of Being

The Dangerous Trap of Being "Good" (That Most Christians Fall For)

Living right might not be what you’ve always assumed.

Galatians 5:22 challenged me to rethink what a Godly life looks like.

I used to think that being a good Christian meant eliminating all sin in my life. At one point, I pridefully thought I had actually pulled it off!

– I wasn’t stealing (anymore).

– I wasn’t lying (anymore).

– Faithful to my wife? Yup.

– Not a murderer? Check.

– and so on

But in the middle of my so-called sin-free life, I could be a jerk. I mean, if somebody is walking around thinking they can do no wrong, what else would you call it?

Here’s what I know now: living right means more than doing no wrong.

Peep Galatians 5:22. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Would a non-Christian be impressed because I haven’t broken any commandments today? Maybe…

Imagine, though, in this cold, cruel world where everyone is angry and stressed, lacking love, peace, faithfulness, etc. And you come along with your fruits of the Spirit. The only person your coworkers or fellow students know who is dripping with joy, patience, and kindness.

That’s gonna turn their head.

And possibly be the start of changing their eternity.
