Dove Award 2025 Red Carpet Conversations
DJ NTEG:
What’s the word? It’s your bro NTEG. We are here from BOOST Radio at the Bridgestone Arena, 2025 Dove Awards, the 56th annual Dove Awards. Man, it’s going up. It’s a bunch of amazing people in the house. Everybody looking so good. I can feel the spirit of the Lord already. It’s going to be a great night, man. We’re going to be covering everything from interviews to just talking with artists to just getting to hang with people. It’s going to be a dope day. Lock in and don’t go nowhere because we’re going to have some great content for you. Yeah.
All right, so Jackie, on this faith journey that you’re on, what’s the quiet part that publicly people might not see, but you know God is working on?
Jackie Hill Perry:
The quiet part? My heart. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” And so to be a communicator, it’s important that my heart is stewarded well, and so He’s just always messing with me in a good way, whether it’s my kids, whether it’s my marriage, whether it’s my finances, all of that allows me to steward what I do publicly because my heart is being checked all the time.
DJ NTEG:
I love it, man. So just thinking about all the success you’ve had, what do you consider success outside from the numbers and the accolades?
Jackie Hill Perry:
Humility. Jesus said, “Greatest in the kingdom is servant of all.” And so numbers, streams, followers that really don’t mean nothing when we serve a Lord who condescended, took on flesh, died on the cross naked. And so to me, this is cool, this is great, but if I’m not a servant, then I’m actually not doing nothing. I’m wasting my time.
DJ NTEG:
I love it.
Question for both of you all. What’s new with the podcast? Can you drop some jams? Give us some exclusives. What’s going on?
Preston Perry:
We just had some great interviews with CeCe Winans coming up, Tye Tribbett coming up. I don’t really know.
Jackie Hill Perry:
I don’t know [inaudible 00:01:39].
Preston Perry:
Yeah, we just be talking on that couch.
DJ NTEG:
Look, I appreciate it, man. You all are dropping so many nuggets and valuable knowledge. Thank you all so much. You all have a blessed night. You all blessed.
How the babies doing?
Hulvey:
Fantastic.
DJ NTEG:
That’s what’s up, man. I want-
Hulvey:
Fantastic.
DJ NTEG:
Praise God. That’s a blessing. You got Memphis and what’s the other one?
Hulvey:
Memphis and Rocky.
DJ NTEG:
And Rocky. Powerful names, bro. That’s what’s up. I don’t think I’ve seen you since we were in Memphis when we did that-
Hulvey:
[inaudible 00:02:01].
DJ NTEG:
Yep, that’s been a while. I won’t hold you long, bro.
Hulvey:
No, you’re good, man.
DJ NTEG:
Man, you got a lot going on in your life. A lot of applause come your way. How do you keep yourself grounded in the middle of it all?
Hulvey:
Jesus says, “If you get your applause from man, you got your reward already,” so I just fight to get my reward in secret.
DJ NTEG:
Man, one of the things I always say, “If you live from their acceptance, you’ll die from their rejection,” and that’s a powerful line. So this is a highlight night for you. It’s a lot going on. What do you hope people take away from your music and your mission?
Hulvey:
As I say, Holy Spirit, speak through me. I just pray you feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. I can’t force anyone to do anything with my lyrics, but you can experience God and I’m hoping that that’s what happens. The same way that he met me when I was in Memphis, Tennessee, 16 years old and I heard the Lord say, “Follow me,” I pray that people would get that type of experience from the music. I can’t force you, but I can make the songs with God. Not as for God but with God.
DJ NTEG:
That’s powerful. What’s next up for you, man? What you got going on? You’re doing movies? You got new album? What’s popping? Spill the beans a little bit.
Hulvey:
Yeah, bro, so a new album coming next year. Definitely my most adventurous work and putting out three songs at the end of this month. It’s something the Lord put out my heart, right, Rach? It was very quick. It was like God just was like, “You need to do this,” so I’m doing it. And it’s the most urgent work I’ve made. I’m doing it all organic, right out of my father-in-law’s studio. Nothing’s fancy. This is for the heart.
DJ NTEG:
We getting worship Hulvey, we’re getting spitting them bars hot work-
Hulvey:
[inaudible 00:03:32] be rapping for sure.
DJ NTEG:
Yeah, let’s go.
Hulvey:
I’m about to really be rapping.
DJ NTEG:
I appreciate you, Hulvey. Thank you for everything you are to this industry and to the Body of Christ, brother.
We got Anike here. How you feeling today, sis?
Anike:
Amen. I’m feeling blessed up. It’s a good day, we here with BOOST Radio so you already know it’s a lituation.
DJ NTEG:
Congratulations on the new baby. How does it feel? You still got that mommy glow, I see you. How does it feel?
Anike:
It feels beautiful. She’s actually here in town, but she’s at the hotel. But it’s a beautiful thing and I’m just so excited that God allowed me to experience motherhood.
DJ NTEG:
It’s a blessing, man. So in this season of your life, Anike, what does obedience look like?
Anike:
I think obedience looks like discipline and just following the will of God over your will. Because I think sometimes we want to do our own thing, but you start realizing it’s for the greater good. Motherhood has shown me that. You can try to do your own thing, but you’re just going to waste your time and your baby going to cry, so you might as well just be obedient.
DJ NTEG:
I love it. So it’s a big night. A lot of applause coming your way with all your success and your accolades. How you staying grounded?
Anike:
Honestly, just following God, reading the word. I think that’s so important. And also being surrounded by people who can hold you accountable, can tell you the truth. I think that keeps me grounded and just keeps me just being exactly who he called me to be, a child of God.
DJ NTEG:
Amen. I tell my friends, “Look, keep it 100 with me. If I’m tripping, tell me I’m tripping so I can get back right.” You feel me?
Anike:
Yeah, yeah.
DJ NTEG:
So what’s next for you? I know you and Porsha Love got a project, you know what I’m saying? Can you talk about that a little bit?
Anike:
Yeah, so I just dropped a project called Good News, No Gossip with my girl, Porsha Love, and it’s fire. And so, it’s for the holy girls and the holy boys. So I think it’s just great to have something that the women can show you that, “Hey man, we out here, we doing hip-hop,” and to encourage other women of God, but also it’s for the general body. So it’s fire.
DJ NTEG:
Period. You feel me? So before you jump out of here, any last thing you want to say to BOOST Nation?
Anike:
Make sure you’re tapping the BOOST Nation, tapping the Christian music, support Christian music, and it’s lit.
DJ NTEG:
Hey, last question. When we going to get a ladies Christian hip-hop cypher?
Anike:
We probably in the works of that. We talked about that while we were writing the project, so you already know. Stay tuned.
DJ NTEG:
I’m NTEG, I’m from BOOST Radio, man. It’s a pleasure to be able to chop it up with you and just to see what the Lord is doing in your life. So I just want to know, man, did you call on angels from on high to write that verse? Talk me through that process my guy.
Brenno:
Oh yeah, for sure. So I have to back it up to a Holy Smoke Fest. Shout out Indie Tribe, nobigdyl and his team, they put on a Christian hip-hop festival here in Nashville. I got to be a part of that, be a part of the cypher. Sway was in the room, he saw what was happening on stage and he’s like, “Man, we got to take this to my studio in New York City and do a Christian rap cypher, the first ever Christian rap cypher on Sway in the Morning on Shade 45.” So me and five of my brothers and DJ Mykael V, we got on there, and when he told me that that was about to happen, I left Holy Smoke Fest and went right to my studio, bro. I went right to my studio.
I grew up listening to Sway in the Morning, in middle school and high school, I would watch the cyphers, I watched the interviews, and then to fast-forward and see that opportunity, it’s like, “Okay, Lord, I’m going to steward this opportunity well, I’m going to give it my best, I’m going to do my part in giving you glory through it, give them Jesus, and let you do the rest.” And bro, that experience couldn’t have gone better.
DJ NTEG:
Man, that’s a staple in CHH history right here. And I appreciate God just allowing it to happen. And me just being able to witness it, bro. So on this journey, with all the applause, with everything that’s coming, with the success of the cypher, how you keep yourself grounded?
Brenno:
Man, well obviously my relationship with the Lord, my secret place, my relationship with my wife, she helps me stay grounded. And I think a big one that people can overlook is being plugged into my local church. Actually, I’m on staff in my local church and just submitted to my local seniors, local senior pastor, and that helps me stay grounded. Because being a part of a local church, it reminds you what this is really about and it’s to reach souls and it’s to build disciples. And if my music career contradicts what we’re doing in the local church, then what am I doing?
DJ NTEG:
You heard it here, yo, get plugged into that local church, man, get you some discipleship. Hey, get stewarded. That’s important to this growth on this walk, man. So what you got new coming up? Tell us what’s happening? What’s popping? What’s going on?
Brenno:
Yes, sir. So my debut album Vida drops in a month from now in November. So the pre-save is live, pre-save it. My first ever album is dropping, everything’s ready to go, so I’m hype man.
DJ NTEG:
Love you bro. Thank you for your time.
Brenno:
Thank you.
DJ NTEG:
But you got a viral song, viral dance. My question is this, how do you know when you’re creating for purpose and not just with pressure?
Nathan Davis Jr.:
So for me, I went through a crazy transition in my life. So I come from making R&B and doing my movies and my TV shows like Criminal Mind, Snowfall, Glee. But I lost my little brother to suicide and I lost 14 family members, and my mom, who’s actually here with me was in a hospital last year fighting for her life. So in that moment God actually came in my room and said he loved me and he hugged me and he said, “I wanted you to start making music for me.” And my first song that I wrote for God is the one that’s Woke Up This Morning that’s going viral. So for me it’s like, it’s deeper than the performance, it’s more about God saved my life. And my whole thing is I can never repay him, but I can be obedient as much as I can. So this song just is me being obedient and sharing my testimony and also sharing what the Spirit gave me that could also help others like it helped me, you feel me? So yeah.
DJ NTEG:
And God is rewarding your obedience, brother. That song goes crazy. The dance go crazy. We even did the dance at the radio station.
Nathan Davis Jr.:
Hey, shout out [inaudible 00:09:08]. Let’s go! Turn up!
DJ NTEG:
I won’t keep you long. My last question of you is just knowing, walking through this season of life, how are you measuring your success aside from the accolades and the numbers?
Nathan Davis Jr.:
So for me, I really just be chilling, bro. If I’m being real with you, you can ask my mom, I’d be chilling. I expect God to elevate it because like in the word, when God told the disciples to give Him the bread and the fish and they put it in his hand and he multiplied and he magnifies. So it’s like I feel like whatever I give God, as long as it’s for him, he’s going to multiply it and magnify it. So I feel like I don’t really put no caps or ranking system to him. I guess I’m expecting just how massive God is because God is massive. So I just feel like anything that’s massive, he’s going to do it. So I don’t know, I’m just being here bro. I’m an assistant, man. I’m just like, “What you want me to do, God? Yes, you are. What we doing? Okay, we going over here, bet. Okay, cool.” So that’s what I’m doing.
DJ NTEG:
I love it, man. I heard one person say, “It’s like being Jesus’ apprentice.” God, just show me the way and I’m going to do it. Give me the tools and I’m going to use them. Man, I appreciate you bro for taking time to hang with us. Our audience love you, you know what I’m saying? And we’re looking forward to more from you. Yeah, man.
Nathan Davis Jr.:
And shout out John Joseph because he the one that connected me with you all. So shout out John Joseph for real, for real.
DJ NTEG:
John Joseph the homie. Shout out John Joseph. Enjoy yourself tonight. Good talking to you brother. God bless you. And show mama a good time, man.
Nathan Davis Jr.:
[inaudible 00:10:36].
DJ NTEG:
They ain’t ready boy. You hear me?
All right, so Bodie, you got a lot going on, man. I just want to say what success looks like to you aside from the accolades and the numbers?
Bodie:
Oh, man. A healthy marriage, kids that are proud of their dad and don’t wish he was home more but are proud of the ministry he is doing, and the fruit that comes from the ministry, I think those are the successful things.
DJ NTEG:
Man, that’s powerful. I’m a father of five, myself, me and my wife, we have five children. Even coming here, my kids was like, “Daddy, how long you going to be gone?” So I understand how important that is. Those successes are important.
Last question and I’m going to get out of your way. Just being on this journey, what’s the quiet part of your faith that publicly people might not get to see but you know God is working on?
Bodie:
Wow, that’s so good. I would say for me on a practical level, my driving, when I’m driving I rarely listen to music and that’s just my time. Separate from that, the gym, funny enough. And surfing, surfing and the gym. When I have time for them, that’s my spot where I can really reflect and let God speak and I shut up for once and let him move me.
DJ NTEG:
Man, when I first met my wife, I didn’t have a radio in my car and she wondered why. It was because this was my time for conversations with God. So that quiet time with God is important. We appreciate you, Bodie, man. You got to come rock it out with us at the station sometimes. We’re in St. Louis, if you’re ever in St. Louis, come visit us, BOOST Radio. God bless you, man.
Bodie:
Nice to meet you.
DJ NTEG:
Hey, they ain’t ready. I’m blessed, man. Good to see you, man.
Don Ready:
How are you?
DJ NTEG:
Look, your music is my favorite. Every time we spinning your music, hey, I get turned up man. That’s what’s up. How you feeling tonight brother?
Don Ready:
Doing good. I’m feeling good. I’m just glad to be here.
DJ NTEG:
You looking good, bro.
Don Ready:
Hey man, healthy as [inaudible 00:12:21]. Literally, last year I didn’t know if I was going to be able to do anything like this again. Most people know my journey of battling cancer and stuff. I’m just glad to be here.
DJ NTEG:
Can you dive a little deeper into your journey right now, man? What has the Lord been revealing to you throughout this process? I can understand how challenging it is, but what type of peace have the Lord been putting in your spirit during this time?
Don Ready:
Yes, it’s not only peace, it’s like patience, giving myself patience to grow, giving myself patience to evolve. That’s what I’ve really been living in this season and God’s just been showing up and showing out. He’s been protecting me whenever, not just from the cancer journey, but protecting me from relationships, protecting me from things that I didn’t even know I needed to look out for.
DJ NTEG:
Danger [inaudible 00:13:05].
Don Ready:
Man, I’m telling you, I’m telling you. So right now I just feel protected and I’m just blessed to be here for real.
DJ NTEG:
I love it, bro. So if you are talking to somebody right now who’s experienced some of what you’ve experienced through your journey, how can you tell them to focus on God and trust him moving forward?
Don Ready:
Yeah, 100%. So my main thing that I would say is learn to be patient with yourself, learn to be patient with the Lord. We don’t realize God is up to something even in the midst of tragedy, even in the midst of the worst things of this life, God is up to something and He’s doing something. The word says, “God works all things out for the good of those who love him.” Sometimes it just takes a little time for us to get there, you know what I’m saying? But it’s not just the waiting of it, but how we wait. You know what I’m saying? Do we give God the time and patience and love to just wait on Him? Because I promise you, I say it all the time, once God spins the block, it feels a little different.
DJ NTEG:
It feels a little different.
Man, one last question before you go. What’s new? What you got up next? You dropping movies? You’re dropping films? What’s going on? What’s the music looking like?
Don Ready:
Movies and films is crazy.
DJ NTEG:
Got that movies [inaudible 00:14:15], bro. You know what I’m saying?
Don Ready:
I’d love to do that at some point. Right now I’m just getting back in stride. So I got an album I’m working on, it’s almost done. Literally next week we’re like, it’s on the calendar, “Finish the album.” You know what I’m saying? And then from that point we’ll be rolling it out and I’m just praying it blesses people, man.
DJ NTEG:
Love you, brother. Thank you so much for your time, man. I praise God for what he doing in your life.
What’s the word, man? I’m with the big homie Aaron Cole in the building, you know what I’m saying? How you feeling today, bro?
Aaron Cole:
I feel good, man. It’s a chill night, you know what I’m saying? I’m up for a rap hip-hop album of the year tonight, so let’s hope we bring it home. I’m just here to have a good time. For sure.
DJ NTEG:
Hey, hey, I got to know, Aaron Cole.
Aaron Cole:
What’s up?
DJ NTEG:
How did this song with Timbaland come across, bro? Timbaland is a staple in the hip-hop community.
Aaron Cole:
Absolutely.
DJ NTEG:
He produced a mess out that thing. Your vocals, how you rode, I need to know how did this song come about?
Aaron Cole:
Yeah, so shout out to the producer Xander. He’s a producer that’s kind of in the mainstream Christian space and he just hit me up, man, and he was just like, “Bro, I got this song with Timbaland and I really want you a part of.” You know what I’m saying? Being from Virginia, it just made sense, you know what I mean? That’s the big OG from Virginia, so I was super honored man to get on that joint and it’s going crazy too.
DJ NTEG:
It is going. We spinning it like crazy, I just want to say, man.
Aaron Cole:
I appreciate it.
DJ NTEG:
On your faith journey, bro, what’s something that God’s been quietly speaking to you that oftentimes the public don’t get to hear?
Aaron Cole:
That’s a good question. Man, I feel like for me, it’s always been an up-and-down battle of just working through humility. I feel like God is just always just telling me like, “Man, always give me the glory.” You know what I mean? It’s a hard thing when you’re in this Christian music industry, when you’re making music and when you’re doing hip-hop too, so it’s all about the competition, it’s all about all that. You know what I mean? But I feel like God is just showing me, man, stay humble and keep Me at the forefront. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God,” and then the rest going to come later. You know what I’m saying?
DJ NTEG:
The humble shall be exalted and the exalted shall be humbled. That’s powerful, man. So with all the applause that you’re getting, all the accolades that’s coming your way, how do you view success away from the numbers, away from the Dove Awards, away from the trophies? What does success look like to you, bro?
Aaron Cole:
Absolutely. Great question. I feel like, man, I just had my first son, you know what I’m saying?
DJ NTEG:
Congratulations.
Aaron Cole:
I got my wife here with me on the carpet, I got my pops here. You know what I’m saying? I got a new song on my new project, WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE called FAMILY MADE ME RICH.
DJ NTEG:
I just want to say that’s favor, if you all… That is favor right there.
Aaron Cole:
Yeah. I’m just like, family made me rich, man, I’m here. You know what I’m saying? I’m still living, I’m still breathing, and I got my family with me. I get to take care of my family doing something that I love and telling the world about Jesus, man. It don’t get no better than that. That’s success to me for sure.
DJ NTEG:
So, can you tell our audience who you are so they’ll know who you are? We already spinning your records.
Lee Vasi:
Oh, thank you so much. Well, hello audience. I am Lee Vasi. I’m a Christian R&B artist. I’m so excited to be here.
DJ NTEG:
We’re so excited to have you. So my question to you is on this faith journey, the quiet times where God speak with you, that oftentimes the public don’t get to hear, what are those conversations like?
Lee Vasi:
Oh, my gosh, God be getting me together you all, every time. And I think that something I’m learning too is that as you get delivered from one thing or you’re getting delivered from the big stuff, there’s still those things that we consider small things that God still wants to work on within us. And so, definitely having that time to talk with him is everything. So you can really hear from the source Himself and self-check and figure out how to honor Him in everything.
DJ NTEG:
Them conversations with God are important. Do not dismiss them. Look, I just want to say, so this is a big night, you have impactful music. What do you want people to get from your music and from your mission?
Lee Vasi:
Wow, I really just want people to see God in and through me, right? It’s really not about me. I literally would have nothing to sing about if it wasn’t for him and the things that he’s brought me through. And so, I just want for people to take hope and courage from my music and I hope that it will encourage them to be bold in what God has called them to do because that’s all I’m doing, is trusting him along the way.
DJ NTEG:
Trusting him along the way.
My last question, it goes right along with that. In this season of your life, what does obedience look like for you?
Lee Vasi:
Obedience in this season of my life looks like rest and going to him and understanding what rest really means. And my friend Porsha Love gave me a great word.
DJ NTEG:
Shout out to Porsha Love.
Lee Vasi:
Shout out Porsha Love! She told me, she goes, “We can’t compare our rests. Rest looks different, depending on the season you’re in and what God has called you to.” So that’s what I’m growing in right now with God.
DJ NTEG:
Man, you heard it here first man, Lee Vasi pulling up to BOOST Nation hollering at us. You got anything you want to say to BOOST Nation before you roll?
Lee Vasi:
Oh, my goodness. Shout out BOOST Nation. Love you guys. Thank you guys so much for the support on the music. God bless you all.
DJ NTEG:
What’s up? I’m NTEG with BOOST Radio, got the amazing Blanca here. How you feel today, sis?
Blanca:
I’m feeling good. I’m feeling super grateful and just taking it all in right now.
DJ NTEG:
What we celebrating? Are we celebrating the little nominee?
Blanca:
Maybe, yes, we got a little nominee in the house. I was nominated tonight for Latin Song of the Year with my song Worthy featuring Yandel. So, so excited.
DJ NTEG:
You all go check that out right now or I’m going to get you. All right.
So grateful to be here with you tonight with all your success and all your accolades, how do you stay grounded?
Blanca:
Honestly, if you knew anything about me you know that most of the time I try to get out of my head, trust the Lord through this process, and He honestly is what keeps me grounded. He’s placed some incredible people in my life, my friends, my family, who check me when they need to check me, and staying connected to him and his word.
DJ NTEG:
That’s powerful right there.
And so with this last past year, what is something that the Lord has revealed to you that’s shifted your whole perspective?
Blanca:
To stay present. I think too much of the time we spend in regret of the past or fear of the future when he’s just calling us to stay where His presence is, and that’s in the right now.
DJ NTEG:
Man, I love it. Can you tell BOOST Nation what you got new coming up? You got any acting roles? You got any new music dropping? I want to know.
Blanca:
I have some new music dropping BOOST. I have a new album coming out October 17th, so next Friday. Make sure you check it out. Full Bloom is coming at you.
DJ NTEG:
Full Bloom. You heard it right here, man. Thank you so much for giving us a little bit of your time today, Blanca. God bless you. Take care now.
Blanca:
God bless-
DJ NTEG:
What’s up, yo, it’s your bro NTEG with BOOST Radio. We got the awesome Elevation Rhythm right here. How you all doing today? How you all feeling? What’s up?
Elevation Rhythm:
Feeling good like I should. Feeling blessed, never stressed. Is that a new song we’re trying to write right now, Josh?
[inaudible 00:20:52].
Oh, sorry. I know, I know. Honestly, we’re feeling really good right now. Thank you for asking us.
DJ NTEG:
I love it, man. I just want to say in this realm of applause that you guys get so much, you guys have had some great success, how do you stay grounded?
Elevation Rhythm:
The cool thing about us is that we’re a part of a local church. And so when Rhythm started, it was never about the awards, the applause, it was always about serving the community that God was calling us to and that’s our local church. And so what keeps us grounded is going back home and leading worship on a Wednesday night for the teenagers that we were writing the songs for, being at church on a Sunday and helping lead the community. So there’s nothing better than knowing that, hey, God doesn’t take you far to make your name great, He’s using you to remind people that He is the greatest name above every other name.
DJ NTEG:
Hey, that’ll preach right there. That’s powerful, man. So on your journey in the quiet times that you have that oftentimes the public may not know, what’s the Lord speaking to you?
Elevation Rhythm:
Nate.
I feel like it’s different for all of us, but I think purity is something that we all are passionate for. Purity is more than just something physical, it’s in your heart, it’s in your mind. Purity is a person, purity is Jesus, Jesus is the pure one.
Come on.
Especially because we’re on the road so much, we’ve been touring all year, we’ve been releasing a lot of music all year. So keeping our hearts pure and keeping the main thing, the main thing is everything. And I think if you remind yourself of the cross, if you remind yourself of the blood and the body of Jesus, there’s no way that impurity can ruin your mind. You’re washing yourself daily in the blood.
DJ NTEG:
That’s powerful man. I love it.
So last question because I know you guys got a lot going on. So with the applause, with the success, you guys have done amazing projects of work, amazing music. What do you guys want people to take from your music and your mission?
Elevation Rhythm:
Jesus. And not just in the most throw away answer, but the true answer. Every lyric that we write, we’re trying to point people back to Jesus and his characteristics, and how we have freedom, and his victory. And so our last album’s called Victory Lap because we get to run the race of victory because he won the war. And so the fact that the battle’s already been won, we’re living in his victory and we want everyone to feel that freedom that they can all live in that victory.
DJ NTEG:
Man, that’s it right there. What do you guys want to tell BOOST Nation? What’s new coming up? You got any projects dropping? Any new music coming? What’s going on? Talk to me.
Elevation Rhythm:
The one we just did.
We just dropped our newest single WASHED.
DJ NTEG:
All right.
Elevation Rhythm:
Yes, and it’s probably one of my favorite songs. So if you haven’t heard it, go listen.
DJ NTEG:
Go listen to it right now or we going to get you. All right.
I appreciate you all time, man. Thank you all so much. I wish you all much success and much accolades, you know what I’m saying? Thanks for the time today. God bless you all. All right.
I got to do this for my daughters.
Yeah, hold up, man, wait for it.
I remember all day we used to pray for it.
Me and ‘De was on the ground like the skateboard.
Look, that is my two daughter’s favorite song. They watched that video religiously.
Porsha Love:
Really?
DJ NTEG:
Great work. Amazing work.
Porsha Love:
Thank you.
DJ NTEG:
Thank you for taking time to hang with us. I just got a couple questions for you. So in this season of your life, Porsha, what does obedience look like to you?
Porsha Love:
Ooh, obedience looks like sacrificing my comfort. And that’s in every area of my life, whether if it’s my health because I want to eat that chocolate cake-
DJ NTEG:
I know what you mean.
Porsha Love:
… or if it’s my phone because I want to scroll. It’s just sacrificing my comfort and being obedient when God says, “Pray,” doing that, when he says, “Go,” moving, and just not being afraid to do what he’s calling me to do, but definitely sacrificing my comfort.
DJ NTEG:
That’s powerful right there, man. Sometimes you sacrifice your comfort and God will bless you with even more. You know what I’m saying? So with where you are with your success and your accolades, all the applause, how do you stay grounded?
Porsha Love:
Ooh, I am very realistic. I remember who I am as a woman. I am a woman of God first, forget the music, forget the lights, forget the makeup, I’m a child of God. And I’m just having that mindset and being reminded of none of this is possible without God keeps me in reality, it keeps me in reality that it’s all about him and it is been about him. I could have been a tap dancer, I could have played the violin, he could have gave me any gift, but he chose to give me this gift so I have no choice but to give it back to him.
DJ NTEG:
So over this last past year, has God revealed anything to you that’s shifted your whole perspective?
Porsha Love:
Yes, I just got married.
DJ NTEG:
Congratulations.
Porsha Love:
Thank you. Shout out to my husband.
DJ NTEG:
[inaudible 00:25:30].
Porsha Love:
You see it. So I feel like God has allowed my marriage to be a mirror and showing me what I need healing in, what I need growth in, how I need more patience. So that has been monumental, but God is good and my husband is amazing. So yeah, and I would say that for sure.
DJ NTEG:
New project with Anike. Talk about that a little bit.
Porsha Love:
Yeah, Good News, No Gossip. Stream it now. Shout out to BOOST because they’ve been doing what need to be done, you know what I’m saying? But we came up with a project, it’s called Good News, No Gossip. We have Childlike CiCi, Torey D’Shaun, we have Ablaze Youth Choir on it. So it’s a fire project, it’s an EP. It’s not too long, it’s not too short, but God did His thing on it. It was great. We did it in two months too.
DJ NTEG:
Go stream that ASAP or you know I’m going to get you.
Last question. So I hear you expanding your artistry into TV, is that correct?
Porsha Love:
Yes.
DJ NTEG:
Let us talk about that a little bit.
Porsha Love:
Yes. So I actually have a podcast, it’s called Girl, Talk About God. So it started from there and then I can’t say too much, but me and my girls, we got something in the future coming up.
DJ NTEG:
They cooking, they cooking.
Porsha Love:
We cooking up, we cooking up.
DJ NTEG:
Anything you want to say to BOOST Nation before you get out of here?
Porsha Love:
I just want to say thank you guys so much for all that you do. We can be who we are if you aren’t who you are. So very grateful for every opportunity and holy girls, up, period.
DJ NTEG:
All day, every day. You feel me?
Grateful to be here with you tonight. You looking good, brother?
Lloyd Nicks:
Appreciate it.
DJ NTEG:
I got a simple question kicking this off, man. What’s one thing Lloyd Nicks would tell to his younger self?
Lloyd Nicks:
“Hold on. It’s going to get harder, but on the other side of it is glory and the glory is found in Jesus. Don’t try to go around, but you got to power through the process. It’s going to seem like night is lasting forever, but on the other side, God will meet you and he’s going to return everything tenfolds for his glory.”
DJ NTEG:
Hey, he’s speaking from experience. I can tell the conviction right there. Man, look, I just want to say your music is powerful. What’s one thing you hope that someone will take from your music and your mission?
Lloyd Nicks:
Jesus. It’s just Jesus. I am no one special, I am a broken man, I am a father trying to figure this out, I’m a preacher trying to figure this out, I’m a friend and a brother, I’m a husband that’s trying to figure this out just like any other human. I experienced the whole human experience, but I’m trying my best to walk through it with Jesus.
DJ NTEG:
That’s what it’s about, man.
Look, last question my brother, who you excited to see tonight?
Lloyd Nicks:
Well, I’m excited mostly to see… I got to give it to Cece. She’s such a pillar of this genre, but also in the faith. The way that she just exudes Jesus is just so powerful to me that she makes me want to be a better follower of Jesus. Not a better artist, but I want to be a better follower of Jesus.
DJ NTEG:
Amen, brother. I appreciate that. Very well said. Thank you for taking time with us Lloyd Nicks. Love you, man. God bless you, man. Do your thing tonight.
[inaudible 00:28:24] I’m NTEG with BOOST Radio. I am here with Caleb Gordon. How you feeling my brother?
Caleb Gordon:
I’m feeling great. God is good, god is good.
DJ NTEG:
Man, you looking good too, I just want to say. You put this together yourself or did somebody help you with it?
Caleb Gordon:
Designer. His name is Cam Tate, Cameron Tate. Shout out to him, he’s fire.
DJ NTEG:
Shout out to Cam, he hooked you up tonight. So I won’t keep you long, bro. So in this season of your life with all your accolades and all your success, how do you stay grounded?
Caleb Gordon:
Humility keeps you on the ground.
DJ NTEG:
Amen.
Caleb Gordon:
Oh, worship, and every day trying to be a good husband.
DJ NTEG:
Amen, bro.
Caleb Gordon:
That’s a deep question.
DJ NTEG:
Look, I ain’t trying to go too deep with you, but-
Caleb Gordon:
No, it’s good though.
DJ NTEG:
For sure.
Caleb Gordon:
It just takes a moment to reflect like, wow. Even questions like that, it’s just like-
DJ NTEG:
I got another deep one for you.
Caleb Gordon:
Go ahead, take me there, take me there.
DJ NTEG:
So on this journey, aside from the success, the accolades and the numbers, how does Caleb Gordon view success?
Caleb Gordon:
Everything that God originally intended. So if God intended a seed to be a tree, that’s success to Him. So I think that whatever God originally intended for me to be in every area of my life, whether it be a husband, whether it be a father, whether it be in my music, what is God’s original intent? And from there everything is up to that.
DJ NTEG:
That’ll preach right there, I’m just saying, look… What you got new coming up, man?
Caleb Gordon:
New music. Man, new music. We got a tour coming up.
DJ NTEG:
Is it going to be a song a day again? A song a week again?
Caleb Gordon:
We got to do it. If we got to do it to them-
DJ NTEG:
Let’s go!
Caleb Gordon:
We might have to.
DJ NTEG:
I love it.
Caleb Gordon:
But whatever the Lord leads right now, I think that… Got the baby on the way.
DJ NTEG:
Congratulations.
Caleb Gordon:
So whatever the Lord leads and then listening more to what he wants me to sing about.
DJ NTEG:
Man, I wish you much success. You are a needed voice in this industry right now, bro. Thank you for your art that you extends to the Body.
Man, I’m so grateful to be here with the awesome, the amazing Miles Minnick. How you feeling, bro?
Miles Minnick:
I’m blessed and highly flavored, man. We got the doors, man. Let’s go.
DJ NTEG:
Oh, my bad. He said highly flavored. Did you all hear that, right? Look, you on the Reconstruction Tour with Lecrae.
Miles Minnick:
Yeah.
DJ NTEG:
What has the Lord been revealing to you throughout this tour?
Miles Minnick:
Everything, man. For those of you all who don’t know this Lecrae’s last tour, and so it remind me of Elijah and Elisha. Elijah said, “If I’m taken up but you’re right here, you’re fixing to get that double portion that come off of me.” And so I’m fixing to be right there with him. I’m talking about all the game, all the wisdom because it is almost like the pass the torch tour and I’m going to run with it.
DJ NTEG:
I love that, man. So with all the fame, with all the success, all the accolades, what does success look like to Miles Minnick away from the numbers and all the awards?
Miles Minnick:
Success to me looks like when somebody walks up to me and says, “Man, your music changed my life. Your music helped me get off the alcohol bottle. Your music helped me get closer to God. Your music shifted me away from toxic music to music that transcends the physical realm and taps me into the spirit of God.” That means everything to me for sure.
DJ NTEG:
Yeah, man.
So with everything happening in the world, how do you protect your relationship with God when the industry, when the world is trying to pull you in different directions?
Miles Minnick:
Yeah, that’s so good. It’s all about priorities. You know what I mean? My youth pastor said this when I was a kid, he said, “Look at a button-up shirt. If you put that second button on the top, then the rest of that shirt going to be discombobulated on the way down. But if you line everything up perfectly, God, family, friends, and career, then everything going to fall into place the way it should.”
DJ NTEG:
That’s powerful, man. So we know you’re on tour with Lecrae, what’s new coming up from Miles? What you got popping? You acting? You getting into some movies? What’s going on, bro?
Miles Minnick:
You are prophetic, sir, I had a meeting today at our Nashville headquarters for UTA. Definitely getting into acting. You may see me as Jonathan for the David Show. You may see me doing some crazy stuff. You never know what guy going to do, but I know it’s going to be big.
DJ NTEG:
Do it big. BOOST it up.
Hey, last question, man. With everything happening right now in the world, we got a bunch of different people in BOOST Nation from all different walks of life, what kind of inspirational message can you give them just to keep pushing?
Miles Minnick:
Listen, listen. The Bible says, “All things work for the good, for those who love God and for those who are called,” which means I don’t know what you’re going through, but it’s not over until it’s good. Until it’s good. Hold on. It’s going to get greater later. I know that to be true. Keep your faith in God and make sure you keep Him within your house, within your relationships, and He going to make sure that peace surpasses all understanding for you, in Jesus name.
DJ NTEG:
BOOST Nation, you heard that, hold on. I appreciate you, bro.
Miles Minnick:
Yeah, yeah. You already know.
DJ NTEG:
Thank you so much. Much-
