You might have caught wind about some Impeachment chatter in Washington D.C……again. Stemming of course from what went down a week ago today.
You don’t come to me or BOOST to talk politics. I promise you I’m not trying to go there. No win there. Everyone on all sides (there’s more than two….more than left vs. right) sees this historic moment through their sense of what’s just. If there ever can be a win, most think it’ll be when OUR flavor of justice is served on those at the source of our injustices.
There are the injustices my friends of color instantly saw in how last week’s protesters were treated vs. those who’ve protested for racial equality. The people trashing the Capitol contended the injustice was connected to how votes were (or weren’t counted). In the middle of what we think is just and in the face of all the injustices surrounding us, as a country, we’re essentially yelling past each other. Nobody wants to bother with considering somebody else’s lack of justice when they won’t recognize ours. And around and around we go.
It feels like a death spiral we’ll never escape. All while the injustices pile up. Where will it end? Thankfully, as a person who places my trust in Christ, it will end with Him.
“God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.” (Ecclesiastes 3:17)
“For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed ; the offspring of the wicked will perish. ” (Psalm 37:28)
“And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?” (Luke 18:7)
It’s not on you or me to bring justice. What IS on us is to BE just. Huge difference between bringing justice, and living it.
“The righteous care about justice for the poor…” (Proverbs 29:7)
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” (Isaiah 1:17)
“…For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” (Isaiah 30:18)
Enduring injustice is a given. You can’t change that. Living justly though? Fix your eyes on trying, and trust God while you wait for His justice to right every wrong.
